Part of our work to restore dignity to farmers is to affirm their capacity to innovate. We don’t teach our farmers “techniques.” We teach them principles and provide materials for Study Plots where they can develop techniques that apply to their unique contexts. The crops harvested from Study Plots go into Savings Groups where our farmers offer each other loans, and otherwise contribute to the self-sustainability of the program. In addition, Church Study Plots are a very visible and encourage community engagement, program growth, and so the growth of the Church.
